Introducing Dark Chocolate: Our Richest Coconut Yogurt Yet

Aloha, friends!

We’ve been dreaming about this flavor for a long time, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with you: Koko Kai Dark Chocolate Coconut Yogurt is here.

If you know Koko Kai, you know we start with the same foundation for every flavor — organic, fair-trade coconut cream, cultured with our proprietary multi-strain probiotic blend. For Dark Chocolate, we layered in a rich cacao base to create something indulgent enough for dessert, but still dairy-free, still gut-friendly, and still cultured with Aloha.

Why Dark Chocolate?

Chocolate and coconut have always belonged together — it’s a pairing found across the cultures that shape our kitchen, from French pâtisserie to Hawaiian and Japanese traditions. We wanted a flavor that felt a little more decadent, something you could reach for as a treat and still feel good about eating. Deep cacao flavor, a silky-smooth texture, and just enough sweetness to round out the tang of the culture.

Getting there wasn’t simple. Chocolate is a notoriously tricky flavor to formulate in a fermented, dairy-free base — cacao behaves differently than our fruit purées, and it took real trial and error on our end to get the texture and acidity exactly right. We think it was worth every batch.

What You Can Expect

  • Rich, dark cacao flavor — not overly sweet, with just a hint of natural bitterness to balance the tang
  • The same live, active probiotic cultures in every one of our five flavors
  • Now in our new FSC-certified paperboard cups — part of our packaging transition away from glass, so you can enjoy Koko Kai with a lighter footprint
  • Available in 4 oz single-serve, with a 16 oz family-size format coming in early 2027
